Stick ‘n’ Step Charity Visit ShoppingCity –
THE Stick’ n’ Step charity was in Runcorn Shopping City for two days in October, raising funds from a pop-up shop located in The Ping Pong Parlour unit, for their charity supporting children with Cerebral Palsy.
Items for sale included a variety of books, bags, ornaments and general bric-a-brac that were kindly donated by Halton residents and the families who attend the Stick’ n’ Step centre in York Street, Runcorn.
Clothing was also donated by a large fashion retailer.
Kelly Marks, who has been with the charity for four years, and is the community fundraiser, said: “The charity is extremely important to me. I had a son with Cerebral Palsy, and I found the support they gave was invaluable to me and my family at the time, as well as the families who now currently attend the centre.
“Their care and guidance has also helped the children to achieve so many milestones, gain confidence and independence.
“We currently receive no government funding and have had to rely solely on the generosity of the public and our supporters. Thankfully, we managed to raise our target funds during the couple of days we were at Shopping City, thanks to the kindness of our customers.”
Jackie Coulthard, from the Central Management Team at the Shopping City, said: “We were happy to support this charity by allowing them to occupy one of our units. They are a wonderful charity who do so much to help children with Cerebral Palsy and their families, their work is incredible.”
Dave Pearman, Centre manager, added, “We are always keen to assist local businesses and charities however we can. We encourage residents to ‘shop local’, whether it be in a charity shop, or an independent store, particularly during these difficult times, where many businesses are already struggling”.
